About Hawk Creek Animal Shelter
The Humane Society of Meeker & Kandiyohi Counties (HSKMC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to assisting abused, neglected, abandoned, and stray animals. Additionally, we aim to educate the community on responsible animal care and encourage the spaying and neutering of companion animals.

- Walk-ins are always welcome! Please note that adoptions must begin at least 30 minutes before closing.
- We do not offer an online application; all adoptions are facilitated through interviews with our staff and the adopting family. To ensure we have adequate staff availability, we appreciate scheduling dog-to-dog meet and greets in advance.
- Surrendering a pet requires an appointment; the first step is to call and be placed on our surrender list.

Volunteer
Come enjoy taking a dog out of the shelter for a Dog's Day Out. Please be over 18 with a valid drivers license. Stop by or give a call 320-235-7612 for an appointment.
Want to walk a shelter dog?
- Come to the shelter and ask a staff member to take a dog out for you.
- Instructions will be given at that time.
- Please be patient with staff if other customers are adopting.
- Please be over 16 to walk a dog. Parent signature needed for 16 & 17.
If you are wanting to visit the cats, please come anytime during business hours.
- Volunteer opportunities will be listed below as well as on our facebook and instagram.
If you would like to volunteer for parades, petsmart events or other events with dogs, please email volunteercoordinator.hskmc@gmail.com to be placed on an email list.
- No groups or probation/community service for hours
- Groups are welcome to come and volunteer with cats, and projects that we may have.
- Service hours only for High School, Scouts, etc.

3/17/26 - Glen Oaks Senior Living- 1-4pm Community Event with BBQ, games, & Medallian Hunt - Dog walkers needed!
PetSmart Willmar- National Adoption Week. We'll have dogs to walk around, please volunteer to help walk a dog. Three dates listed:

3/28/26 12-3pm
3/29/26 12-4pm
4/18/26 - Earth Day at PWELC - 12-4pm - will need dog walkers!

Dog and Cat rabies vaccine is $15
Dog and Cat microchipping is $30
Show up at the event with animals in crates or on leashes, Please practice proper distance for animal safey, check in at front table.
This is for families who have low income, are on food stamps, medical assistance, veterans, disability, social security, etc.
